VICKERS WELLINGTON

Mainstay of the UK bomber force until mid -1943 after which it served in training units or sent to the Middle East and Italy. Over eleven thousand built. The aircraft utilized a `Geodesic` metal frame construction as devised by Barnes Wallis.

The model was originally built by the late John Newberry who completed his training as an air gunner on the type. The flying surfaces use wooden spars, foam board ribs and covering of 500 micron cardboard. (As used in cereal packets). The undercarriage and wheels are home-made.
