Slingsby Type 13 Petrel
The fullsize Slingsby Petrel was first flown in 1938 and only 3 were ever made. The first crashed in 1939, killing the pilot. One is airworthy and flying in the UK and the other is under restoration in the USA.
The model is the second one in the Ghost Squadron, the first being built and flown by Tony Hazlehurst.
This model has taken a while to build due to various reasons, not least the very slow building speed of Pat. It is being built from the Chris Williams plan but differs slightly in that the wing ribs were plotted by John and cut by Al to a scale section and wing plan and the tailplane is of the conventional tailplane and elevator layout as per the fullsize flying in this country. The tailplane is a Chris Williams designed variant, the Petrel can now be built with the all flying tailpane or conventional layout.
The model will hopefully be completed for the 2014 season.

Petral Update Pat has excelled himself over the speed of this build and the projected completion date of 2014 has now passed and the model is still some way from being finished. There is a rumour that it is at the covering stage but hard evidence of this is proving difficult to find. Check back to this page next year to see if the project has progressed faster than the woodworm is eating it !!?
